Definitely a win for dosa. Also have heard that the chole bhatura is excellent here so that's the next order. It is definitely no frills and can get loud, but the food is solid, enormous portions, and honestly I would make the trip just for the filter coffee and chai.

Perks of dropping my daughter off at summer camp...yummy South Indian breakfast. Nice clean (quiet) morning, friendly staff and super delicious idli/vada combo with filer coffee... what else can you ask for? Thank you Saravanaa Bhavan team.

After attending Kalustiyan's 80th celebration and nibbling on various tidbits m we were still hungry for dinner. So I took Mr Recipe, the spice guru chef, to eat at Saravanaa Bhavan. This is a South Indian vegetarian restaurant with alcohol known for their wadas and dosas. We got a table easily and ordered Papad and Medu Wadas in sambar to share. Recipe had a roti with chole and a potato subji (cooked potatoes with spices). I ordered a Rava Masala Dosa which came with coconut chutney and sambar and another indistinguishable sauce. The papad was thin and crisp but deflated fast due to the humidity. Recipe liked his meal. My dosa was average in flavor as I have eaten far superior ones in India. I nibbled on it as much as I could and then left it. Service was quite good and we drank lots of cold water. The restaurant was packed with customers. There were two restrooms for women and men.

This place is awesome, the food is delicious and service is prompt...(almost too prompt, close to rushing sometimes with their turnover) but overall its a good place for south indian food. I personally enjoyed all the chutneys they serve with their dosa. The sambar is also very flavorful and delicious. The masala chai is also yummy as well. No complaints, aside from the occasionally rushed feeling but as always looking forward to the next visit here. Plentiful parking as well - but be mindful, it's on a steep incline/hill if anyone is differently abled its a strenuous from the parking lot to the door.
